Mothers Day is often seen as a dedicated day to honour the sacrifices, love, and dedication of mums everywhere. But what about those who feel invisible, isolated, or like they’re failing?
This #MothersDay, we want to shine a light on those #mums – the ones who have struggled, felt lonely, or questioned themselves. Whether you’re a new mum navigating sleepless nights, a mum of a ten-year-old, or watching your child step into adulthood, to you, we say: You are doing great, and you are not alone.
You deserve support, not shame
Seeking help – whether from a GP, a support group, or a friend – should never come with shame. But if it feels overwhelming, that’s why Mothers Uncovered is here.
We understand that motherhood changes everything – your identity, your priorities, and sometimes, your sense of self. Through our programmes, we help mothers build resilience, speak honestly, and heal, so they can step into motherhood feeling supported, not alone.
At Puzzle Bored, Frazzled, and our Young Mothers group, we create safe spaces for mums to share, connect, and rediscover themselves in their matrescence. If you’re unsure whether a community space is for you, hear what some of our mothers have to say who have joined us:
“I found myself again. I learned that I didn’t have to be scared or anxious or feel guilty. I found that it was okay, would be okay, and is okay.”
“Connecting with other mothers and realising I wasn’t alone in my feelings made me feel less disconnected from myself and the world. Knowing I wasn’t the only one staring at the moon at 3 AM while breastfeeding made me feel so much less alone.”
Every year, 100,000 women in the UK experience postnatal illness. Suicide remains the leading cause of death for new mothers. These numbers are heart-breaking, but they remind us why community, conversation, and support are so important.
So, if this Mothers Day feels heavy, if you feel unseen or unheard, please know that we see you. We are here for you. Join us at Mothers Uncovered and let’s navigate this journey together, not just for a day, but for as long as you need.
